Beaune 1er 'les Champs Pimont' Domaine des Clos - £21.95
Domaine des Clos have four distinct Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune. The 'Champs Pimont' displays a bright ruby colour and elements of black cherry, violets and raspberry on the palate. There is a complex mineral and red berry character that develops and lingers on the palate.

Beaune 'Epenottes' Domaine Lucien Boillot - £19.99
The Boillot domaine is based in Gevrey but the family roots are firmly in Beaune where they maintain prestigious vineyards. A ripe and full bodied character is achieved by traditional winemaking with long extractions and a third new oak to provide depth and structure

Bordeaux 'Select Claret' Cave Bel-Air - £7.99
The Cave Bel-Air is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Aromas of leather and black fruit are complemented with toasty notes. The palate is soft and velvety, with ripe, integrated tannins and a long aromatic finish.

Brouilly 'Vieilles Vignes' Domaine Dubost - £11.99
Brouilly is one of the 10 named 'Cru' villages of Beaujolais, the best vineyards of the region. The Bruyère vineyard is planted on a combination of mineral rich granite and schist soils, which influence the wine complexity. It is ripe with red fruits and rounded tannins, and shows exceptional concentration from low yielding 80-year-old Gamay vines.

Domaine du Grand Mayne Cabernet Merlot - £6.99
The red is a classic blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, vinified to be soft and fruity with gentle tannins. The blend includes a small addition of oak-aged wine to create a softer style to give extra finesse and length.

Chateau Beau-Site - £18.95
Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend, providing a backbone of concentrated berry fruit and firm yet supple tannins. The added complexity of Merlot, gravelly terroir and new oak add further nuances and richness.

Chateau Cantegrive - £12.99
Owned by the Doyard family from champagne this small 30 acre property is located on the high plateau near Puisseguin St Emilion. Planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet grapes and aged for 12 months in oak barrels before bottling. Dark purple colour with a nose of black fruits and toasted coffee notes. Velvety and luxurious in the mouth and in perfect balance combining smooth round tannins and full rich fruity flavours. Modern Bordeaux winemaking at its best!

Chateau d'Argadens - £9.95
A premium quality Petit-Chateaux Claret made from a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.This gives the wine a good body and structure from the Cabernet and the lovely ripe luscious fruit of the Merlot grape. Aromas of cassis abound on the nose, quickly followed by hints of chocolate and spice. On the palate the elegance is enhanced with plummy fruit flavours and a creamy smooth finish with velvety tannis. Really well made and produced by one of the last of the great family wine producers.

Chateau d'Aurilhac - £17.99
A consistently fine estate which stands on the gravelly Medoc plain looking out over the Gironde. The vineyard is predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, combining to give a typically vigorous blackcurrant, plum and spice scented wine with firm yet supple tannins

Chateau d' Archambeau - £11.99
Chateau d' Archambeau is located on the excellent clay, limestone and gravel soils of the southern Graves where both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon do so well. The vineyard supports 50% Merlot with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc combining to provide an aristocratic wine, intense with ripe black fruit, classic spice and cedar aromas and supported by harmonious tannins and smoky oak finish.

Chateau Cabans - £10.99
This excellent Cru Bourgeois Chateau is located on gravel and flint soils overlooking the Gironde River at its northern most point. It is a modern interpretation of a traditional Bordeaux blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot grapes. The fruit is soft, ripe and appealing, balanced by supple, ripe tannins. Exotic blackcurrant, cherry and chocolate flavours lift the palate, finishing warm and raisiny.

Chateau Gachon - £9.95
Made from predominately Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is a deep ruby with purple hues and has a soft nose of cherry, cassis, and spice. On the palate it is quite well balanced with a solid tannic structure and a complementary soft mid-palate of ripe red berry fruit.

Chateau Haut Badon - £15.99
The dominant Merlot grape gives the wines of Saint Emilion their smooth and luscious character whilst the Cabernet Franc adds some weight and complexity. This perfect blend produces a soft rich and blackcurranty red with complex, elegant flavours derived from oak barrel maturation. A pleasant nose with aromas of red berries and a smooth creamy texture gives this excellent Right Bank claret its class and elegance and the Grand Cru status is only bestowed on the best wines of the appellation. Generally these wines mature faster than the more structured wines from the Medoc, located further north where the Cabernet dominates.

Chateau la Rose Saint-Georges - £14.95
This tiny estate is located on the fashionable 'right bank' in Bordeaux. The vines are planted on clay and limestone soils just to the north of the picturesque town of St Emilion. Medium bodied in style but with big rich and rounded Merlot fruit delivering a perfumed aroma and velvety ripe plumy character on the palate. This is beautifully balanced and supported by soft harmonious tannins and a seductive lingering finish.

Chateau le Gardera - £8.99
This fantastic property is among the best of the appellation, producing firm, rich wine from 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Le Gardera has fine tannins, soft fruit with subtle oak and an excellent balance.

Chateau Lescalle - £9.99
A superb property located on the edge of the famous Margaux appellation planted with 65% Merlot 15% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Aged in oak and carefully blended, this delicious claret is consistently good, with ripe supple fruit and soft tannins. Although it is already drinking well, allow half an hour for the wine to breathe after removing the cork, or cellar for up to five years.

Owned by talented winemaker, Christian Veyry (he was the superstar wine maker at Pomerol's Ch Gazin) . Chateau Louvie is located in the heart of the region. Planted on soils of clay and sand, these beautiful vineyards have a average age of 35 years. Made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc to produce a modernist wine, accessible, meaty, silky and ripe. Explosive aromas of black fruits and soft, supple tannins make this an ideal drinking claret. Less than 1,500 cases produced per vintage.
