Our whole family go here quite often, my parents have been going for years. Its one place where you are always made very welcome. If you haven't made a reservation, the waiters and waitresses find you a table, bring your drinks across, etc and really look after you and make your visit 'special'. true food is great here, a good wide menu with something for everyone, even Gluten Free sufferers . The Steak Pie is legendary 0 huge chunks of meat under real short crust pastry, and the veg are always fresh and served with chunky hand cut chips. We often have fish, which always seems really fresh and tasty, especially the halibut. Pork belly must get a mention too. A wonderful place, one of my favourites.

Well, I have to say that was one of the poorest Sunday lunches I have had in years. At £8.95 one would expect a good quality and plentiful meal but that sadly was not the case. My Mother and I both had the roast pork which came as two slices of loin with a copious amount of fat surrounding the only bit of lean meat on each slice. This was coated in congealed gravy with three vey small rather burnt roast potatoes and a couple of boiled potatoes in their skins. An apology was then given for omitting the Yorkshire puddings which arrived on a separate plate together with a side dish of vegetables which can only be described as minimalistic. We both managed to share what was in this dish, each of us having one cauliflower florets, one broccoli sprig, three pieces of sliced carrot and two mini corn sprigs. All the above were extremely hard which may be to the taste of a minority but certainly not us. This unappetising dish was dry and would most certainly have done with a jug of gravy to add to the dryness especially of the vegetables. I normally refrain from having a sweet after a normal large portion of Sunday lunch but because I was still hungry we both opted for a sweet and both had apple and cinnamon crumble. This cam lukewarm and was cold by the time we finished it. All in all not a pleasant experience and one which shall not be repeated in the future. The best part of the experience was the ping of Wold Top bitter which was extremely palatable and kept to perfection.

Tried this one for the first time at the weekend; our friends go often and said its very good. We think its better than that! You get greeted at the door, they find you a table, ev en though we hadnt booked, and nothing is too much trouble. Food was perfect . Wholesome, real chips, brilliant steak pie and very tasty gravy. Place has been refurbished really well and it was lovelhy to sit outside afterwards and watch people come and go. Definitely will go back here. Jane
