I was at the china rose last week for my friends hen do. And may I just say that never in my whole life have I been left angered by the way I was treated by the staff there! I'm sorry but I do agree with Vickib's review below mine. I know they have replaced the head chef there due to family matters getting away but I think thats china roses biggest mistake. The food taste cheap and burnt! The managers are useless. When I tried to make a complaint they just gave me a free coke. How tacky is that! There this big fella called Alex. He grabbed my new born son without asking me and just held him close. I didnt want my new born son touching his greasy uniform covered it god knows what so I politely asked him to put my son down, only for him to reply NO!! THEN TOOK MY SON around the lobby like my son was his own. Also when I was going to pay the bill a small chinese woman the name of Yan who I really couldnt understand snatched the bill away from me as soon as I paid which I thought was rude. And after I left I tried to make another complaint only for this very rude and old looking woman named Carly to ignore me and threatened to call the police if I did not leave quietly. Also everyone who goes there who leaves a tip. Please don't leave tip as it only goes straight to the boss's wife back pocket. The part time staff told me they don't get to keep it. thank you. Oh and mike!! Raymond doesent work at the china rose anymore because he kept giving free food away to customers and asking customers to borrow money so he got fired! serves him right if you ask me.

Disgusting! I've been quite a few times but that was about 2-4 years ago. It used to be good food. Not anymore. Table service was non existant and had to be chased down. Food was disgusting. The monk fish was slimey, so much so it came straight back up! Ribs were very tough fatty & not much meat on them. Chicken skewers were like rubber! Out of king prawns by 7.30 on a Saturday evening. Do not cater gluten intolerance despite calling in advance. Complained and was offered no appology. Refused to pay for disgusting fish but full price was demanded! To avoid a scence we paid and left. I advise you avoid at all costs. I was shocked at how rude the staff were and bad the food was. It is not the nice place it used to be. It's not cheap either so don't bother wasting your time. Much better places locally and nationally Chinese and other, takeaway or restaurant to spend a birthday or meal out. Don't fall for the old reviews.

without any shadow of a doubt, the best chinese restaurant there is.i have lived up and down the country and abroad but it remains unbeaten.the squid meniere, fillet steak cantonese and indonesian 3 kinds of meat are to die for.staff (ask for raymond, he is ace !)and management are great.maitre 'd is excellent.
