I thought I was in Fawlty Towers when I first entered. A man, who I presume was the owner, barged between my girlfriend and I as I was waiting to be seated, Having been shown to our window seat by the waitress the same man asked us to move as, apparently, he had promised the table to someone else. The starters we ordered comprised of Prawn Cocktail which was adequate and a somewhat overpriced smoked salmon, at nearly £9. We both ordered Tournedo Rossini, and whilst the steak was very nice the red wine sauce tasted very strongly of vinegar. When the waitress asked us if the meals were OK, we mentioned this aftertaste and she said she would mention it to the chef. That was the last we saw of this waitress so we requested the bill, paid £65 + for the two courses, including a bottle of Piesporter ( nearly £13 a bottle(trade price for case of 12 about £41.)They did not ask me if I had enjoyed it so I paid and left. The broccoli was as good as I have tasted. Cooked for a change rather than steamed. 2 years ago we had a very memorable meal here. How times have changed.
