We have not been to this restaurant for a few years even though we live locally. Our last meal had not been great so this time we were pleasantly surprised. There was a reasonable vegetarian selection and a large fish and meat selection. We all felt that our food was good, it was not amazing and the gravy for the steak really needed to be brought into the modern day. But we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was very good and we felt very welcomed. We agreed that we would come again and that it was one of the better meals we had had locally

It took me by suprise on entering the quaint looking restaurant how a man with a very exagerated italian accent greeted us, yet never returned to show us to our table. myself and my family ordered starters and main course to the waiter, (who first greeted us) who by now had dropped his adapted accent and was speaking in a broad yorkshire accent. We found this quite amusing. The starters were bland. The calamari = tasteless, soggy and disgusting - obviously not fresh. All the sauces were condensed soups and also out of five dishes two were wrong. We ordered steak and very unlike my two teenage sons, they ate approx 1/5th of it and said it tasted rotten. i can honestly say the 'fillet' steaks were possibly the worst i have ever paid for. i feel that some of the reviews have been posted by themselves as i find it highly unlikely anybody would be happy with the quality of food. I reccomend it to anybody in search of good food not to visit this retaurant. As it will only lead to disappointment.

27/12/08 - Wifes birthday - decided to eat local with 3 kids, 11,13 + 15 - Very, very dissappointing. Small restaurant - city prices - not busy. No cutlery when starters arrived. Bread 10 minutes later. Various fish starters had to ask for pieces of lemon. (okay an oversight). Starters cleared away by unfriendly incompetent waiter who turned out to be the manager/owner, spilled food on wife more than once, not much in the way of an apology. Ordered drinks twice with different staff. Never arrived. Mains arrived, lasagne, nobody ordered lasagne, no cutlery. Asked again for drinks, waitress clearly a mute, shrugged walked away and never returned. Italian restaurant, no parmesan!! Spoke to waiter/manager/owner (who knows), he didn't seem surprised or concerned. Walked out before suffering main course and will never return!!!!
