I'd heard about Octave from a friend who kept raving about it as being one of the few places in London where good food and live jazz go hand in hand. This was my first visit but it certainly won't be my last. We had a fabulous meal and listened to some cool jazz by the Joe Stilgoe Trio who are musically brilliant and also thoroughly entertaining. I started with the scallops which came with a cauliflower cream and crisp bacon - gorgeous, whilst my partner went for the Antipasto, a combo of marinated vegetables, cured ham, rocket leaves plus a clearly homemade duck liver mousse with cornichons and warm toast, he loved it. Main courses were just good Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and he pronounced his rib eye steak one of the best he'd ever had, whatever you do try the fat chips.... We shared a pudding in a bid to keep the calories at bay but i don't think the sublime chocolate and raspberry tart with cream and fresh raspberry sauce was much help with the waistline as it was so good we ordered a second. The bill with a bottle of red and a couple of rather good cocktails came to around £80 which for such high quality cooking as well as two of sets of seriously good jazz reprsents excellent value for money. We will definately be going back
