Our family have used this resturant many times when visiting our parents and have always been very happy with the food and service. BUT we recently booked for a party of 60 to go there following our Mothers funeral and was bitterly disapointed. There is no function room just a small section of the main resturant which was not enough for our party and many of them had to sit in the main part of the resturant seperating us up quite a bit and could not have been pleasent for other dinners having their meals. At £12.50 per head, this is a set price with no barganing or discount for large party bookings or even a drink as a good will gesture. Our bill was £750.00 and for this we expected quite a spread in our Mothers honour. The hot/cold buffett consisted of a few trays of sandwiches, cold quiche, hot battered prawns and spring rolls and a few sausage rolls. As it turned out there was only 49 people able to come back to the Old Polegate Station so there should have been plenty but the food ran out and a few more bits were hurriedly brought out after loud remarks from some of our party. The dessert was 1 tray of miniture cakes (as from Tescos or Iceland) no salads, rice or pasta. The only thing there was plenty of was tea & coffee. I have informed the Funeral Directors who reccomended them to us and none of our family will be using the resturant in the future.
