I've lost count of the number of people who've recommended this restaurant to me, so I was really surprised and disappointed by my own experience there: we were seated right next to the bathroom (which wouldn't be too bad,I'm not snobby about such things, but the way the tables are set out means everyone bumps you squeezing past which gets a tad annoying), and it took 50 minutes for our starters to arrive (after the waiter had brought us someones elses after 45 minutes). The starters were very good, but the mains left a lot to be desired: my pasta was absolutely swimming in oil and tasted of nothing but garlic, giving me the worst indigestion I've ever had! When the waiter asked if the food had been alright,my other half informed him that mine had been inedible due to the amount of oil on it and he just walked away without replying! I know it may have been a one off for them but it really spoiled our night out, I certainly shan't return there.

This is the best Italian restaurant for miles around. We have been going for 3 years and it's consistently good. We have tried out most of the menu and there simply isn't a weak point, from pizza to steak to side veg. It's always busy and buzzing with very cheerful service from real Italians, and you never feel that you are being hurried. You will certainly need to book in advance even on a weekday. To die for are: the goats cheese starter, (simply must have it once in your life), the stuffed pepper, the pizza with Italian cheese sauce under the toppings instead of the usual smear of tomato, and the sea bass in a white wine and grape sauce. Despite its popularity this place is not overpriced, and you can bring your own wine from the offy over the road. Beware they don't take cards so cash or cheque only, but there's a cashpoint 3 doors down the road if you forget.

Attended with 16 of us for a 5oth birthday bash. Excellent atmosphere, very traditional decor and lighting. Very nice music, altho a little loud. Food and service first class, all in all a bloody good night.
