It gets worse every time I visit. The plates are cold. The carvery staff try their best to give you the small and thinest slice of meat they can slice off. The gravy for the meals is on the other side of the restaurant, so by the time you get your meal and put gravy on, it is cold. At £9.75 a pop, very poor value indeed. Not be going again.

I am a registerred blind person. Todeay I visitted The Britannia at Cleadon with Family and they couldn't have been more helpful. Guiding me to a well lit table, help with the menu and even bringing my meal from the carvery, they were great. The meal was delightful, I had steak and ale pie and it was gorgeous (ate the lot). Top marks to all the staff. I'll definately be going back.

sadly gone downhill. Chef absent, yorkshires flat, plates cold, some empty vegetable dishes, waitress trying hard and cancelled starter which had been too cold to eat, even on second attempt. Used to be good but no longer. try Tybarnes at Newcastle or the old Hedowth masonic and social Hall at South Shields.
