After hearing good things about this establishment my girlfriend and I thought we would give it a try as we live locally. What a dissapointment !! Firstly there were people smoking in the bar area even though there is a sign on the door stating this is a smoke free pub and restaurant. We than took our places at a table in the dining area only the see that sat on the floor next to us was a member of staff writing out a menu on a blackboard- surely this could have be done out of view from the customers. Also the dining area is extremely cramped yet there is still a small kitchen area attached where members of staff were constantly making cups of tea and coffee. Obvoiously this does not compliment the dining experience. Children were constantly going in and out of the main kitchen to say hello to various member of the kitchen staff- This may have contributed to why we had to wait OVER 1 HOUR for a bagguete and chips. The food itself was quite nice and the staff were friendly enough but unfortunately the lack of professionalism will stop us from ever going back.

My wife and son went for a bank holiday meal at this place, what a disaster, terrible service and awefull food,Very limited menu on the day, veg had been kept warm all day, rubber chicken, and half portion of shredded and a lump of fatty lamb. Served by uninterested teenagers who spilled gravy over the table and just said sorry then walked away, no offer to clean it up. I strongly advise all to avoid this place, oh an the e-mail address does not exsist if you wish to complain to them.

It pains me to read F Walsh comments, given that I have visited this restaurant and enjoyed the culinary delights all too well. Hindley Green in my view deserves to have a restaurant of note. Little did you know, F Walsh, but in 1641 a fellow called George Green sold some land to the church to build upon. This was surrounded by a green. Tavern on the Green is therefore an apt name don't you think?

Very impressed after our first visit tonight,I chose a mixed grill which was cooked superbly. My wife had the lamb chops which where quite large and tasty. The Veg was fresh and once again cooked just right The staff are very friendly and helpful which made for a relaxed dining experience. The owner came to talk to us and was obviously passionate about food and is serious about making this restaurant one of the best for miles around. Give this place a try you will not be disapointed

As a lifelong resident of Hindaly Green we are "Disgusted" that "interlopers" (no offence meant) have taken it upon their selves to call a pub "restaurant" "tavern On The Green" SINCE WHEN???? has anyone referred to Hindley Green as "On the Green"??? We as a community find this "OFFENSIVE" what was wrong with The Golden Lion????? We only have "issue" with the name of this establishment and as such we are unable to comment on the quality of the food or efficiency of the staff or owners as the name unfortunately "puts us off" visiting.

About time we had a decent restaurant in Hindley Green. Now I can have a great meal either alone or with friends. That with a few drinks without having to worry about driving home afterwards is a godsend. Great people too and the food is outstanding and great value for the money.
